Print it, cut it out, and let your little explorer create their own sea turtle.
Supplies You’ll Need

• 1 paper bowl
• Scrap paper or thin cardboard (for head + flippers)
• Washable finger paint (2–3 colors works best)
• Glue
• Googly eyes (optional but highly encouraged)
• Marker
Simple. That’s it.
Step 1: Prep the Turtle Pieces

Flip the paper bowl upside down. This becomes the turtle’s shell.
Using the printable template, cut:
• 1 head
• 4 flippers
Pro tip: If you’re crafting with younger kids, precut the pieces so they can jump right into painting.
Step 2: Glue It Together

Glue the head to the front of the bowl.
Add two flippers on each side.
Have your kiddo press firmly so everything sticks. Let it sit for a minute before painting so pieces don’t slide off mid-project.
Step 3: Give Your Turtle a Face

Before the paint comes out, bring your turtle to life.
Glue on googly eyes and use a marker to draw a mouth. This helps kids connect with their turtle before decorating.
Now you officially have a little ocean friend.
Step 4: Paint the Shell

This is where the fun (and the “controlled mess”) happens.
Let them:
• Dot
• Swirl
• Smear
• Mix
Stick to 2–3 paint colors to avoid the accidental brown-everywhere situation.
There’s no wrong way to decorate a turtle.
Step 5: Let It Dry

Set it somewhere safe and let it dry completely. Drying time depends on how enthusiastic your painter was.
Just like that, you’ve got a fun ocean craft that opens the door for great conversations about sea life and taking care of our oceans.
